Goodreads Reading Challenge 2017

Goodreads Reading Challenge 2017 - bigbookstinyhearts.wordpress.com.jpg

Hi Guys!

How’s everyone doing? Did everyone had a good start of the year? My new year started from 3rd January because I completed all my deadlines on 2nd January.

One of my favorite things about the new year is Goodreads Reading Challenge. It is always fun to see how I did in the previous year and then setting the goal for the next year is always such a satisfying experience. Does anybody else feels the same?

This year my goal is to read 30 books. It is my usual number. I have been maintaining it from the last three years. The first time I set it to 30 it was quite a struggle to achieve but the following years I’d always read more than 30 books, maybe 31 or 37 like this year. 😀 Trail and error has proven 30 is what works well for me. I remember four years ago I set my goal to 50 books and that was the time I got back to reading after a long hiatus and it was such a struggle. I was almost annoyed by the end and that’s when I resolved to choose a practical goal over hating to read.

According to my goal, if I read 2.5 books a month, I will easily achieve it by December. The good thing is I am already done with two books this and am deciding what to read next. Can’t wait to read some really fun books this year. Not much of a contemporary lover but I am feeling serious contemporary and stand alone vibes this year. *excited*

How many books do you plan to read this year? What genre are you most excited about this year? Do let me know in the comments below! 🙂

Love,

Fatima xx

June Wrap Up // When You Decide To Not Read But The Universe Has Other Plans For You

June Wrap Up

Hi guys!

Sorry for being almost a month late in posting this. I was very busy with life and shizz.

I had no plans of reading anything in June because of Ramadan (religious month). Life is always hectic during that month. But then one night I was pretty much doing nothing and I opened a book and then one thing led to another. xD

I read 4 books in June. There was a series and a contemporary novel.

1- The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski

(First Book Synopsis Here)

The Winner’s Curse #1 || Rating: 5/5

The Winner’s Crime #2 || Rating: 5/5

The Winner’s Kiss #3 || Rating: 5/5

First ever series where I gave 5 stars to all three books. If you want to know my complete thoughts, I did an in-depth review that you can read here. (CLICK CLICK!!) The first half is spoiler free. The next half has spoilers and you will be warned beforehand.

I loved reading these books. They were far more than what I expected and is one of my most recommended series now.

Another thing, I don’t link synopsis of sequels when I am doing a monthly wrap or reviewing a series because obviously if you read the synopsis of book 2, 3, etc, you can end up reading spoilers and that’s one thing I hate, ha.

2- Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 3/5

I plan to put up a review for this book soon. This book was good and I liked reading it. I am just not that into contemporary novels but I do try to read a few now and then because I like to stay in the loop.

~

Hope everyone had a good June and are reading some fun things this month too. I will catch you guys in my next post very soon.

Lots of love ❤

March Wrap Up // Unexpected Reads

March Wrap Up

I had a hard time getting much reading done in March. I am a freelance writer so I had a bit of projects I had to get done with so I was short on time. I read two book. One of them I technically wasn’t supposed to read, ha, but it happened.

1- Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare – (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 4/5

Lady Midnight released on 8th March I guess. Up until then I had made up my mind not to read the series until the last book was out. I hate waiting up for next parts because it kills my feels for the story completely. On 6th March I stumbled upon a video in which Cassie revealed that she has written a short chapter on The Mortal Instruments characters and one of our most favorite couple is getting engaged and it is available in the first edition books only. I went nuts after that. I wanted the book so bad but I was mighty broke and every bookstore priced it so high. It was insane. I finally got my hands on the eBook. Sadly it did not have the bonus chapter but in the last chapters we get to know who gets engaged.

Lady Midnight was all kinds of awesome. The characters, the description, the situation, every single bit of it was such a roller coaster ride. I will do a review very soon. I am just waiting for my physical copy to arrive. I might reread it again before reviewing you never know, ha!

2- Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 3/5

I am still not sure how I feel about this book. I liked reading it but I feel like I didn’t understand it a lot. I was half way through and still had no idea what was really going on. The ending was good but I feel like there was something missing that could have connected the whole story more clearly. If anybody wants to discuss this book with me, please do. 🙂

Yaay! March is done. I just have April and May to get through. Then we will be on track. 😀

Cya later fellaz! 🙂
