January Wrap Up

January Wrap Up.jpg

I know it is March and I am doing a January Wrap Up but I keep forgetting to do these posts. I am not used to them so it is going to take some getting used to. Bear with me, please. 😀 There is another reason why I am not keen. I keep thinking my bookstagram should be the only place where I do wrap ups but I usually just share my ratings there and knowing me, I love talking about books and if I do a wrap up here I am bound to talk. I think long posts can be a put off but then I also remind myself writing about books passionately is why I started my book blog in the first place so I shouldn’t hold back. What do you guys think? I am going to give wrap ups a go here too from now on and talk as much as I want to see how it goes.

Anyway so now without further delay, let’s do this. 😀

I read three books and a short story.

1- Adulthood is a Myth by Sarah Andersen (Sarah Scribbles) (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 5/5

I am sure most of you would be following Sarah Scribbles on Facebook to get a dose of her super hilarious and relatable comics based on a girl character. When I got to know she is coming out with her graphic novel, I knew I would read it. The book is a collection of most of her popular comics that she has already shared on her Facebook page. I didn’t notice any new ones but it was still fun to go through them once again and spot my favorite ones. I believe it was a good idea that she made this compilation. If you love her work this is a good book to purchase. It can also be a good gift to almost any girl and can be a great coffee table book.

2- The Spy by Paulo Coelho (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 4/5

To be honest, I can’t even seem to remember what it was all about now. I remember there is a prostitute who is being executed for being a spy. I don’t remember anything else lol. I liked reading it but I was sure by the middle only it’s a book only hardcore PC fans would like or someone who likes similar books or writing style.

3- A Long Conversation by Cassandra Clare (Lady Midnight first edition special chapter)

Rating: 10/5

I mean this story set my soul on fire and desire for more TMI books. I miss the whole world so much. I miss Jace, his awesomeness and imaging Jamie Campbell Bower as him. I also miss Magnus, Alec, Chairman Meow, Church, Isabelle and Simon. I basically miss everyone and all my ships. More TMI books please Cassandra Clare. More Jace and Magnus.

4- Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 5/5

Talk about underestimating a book and then falling for it head over heels. So glad I ended up reading this book and not getting put off by all the rave. This book was well deserving. I did a spoiler free review for this book (Click here for it) that I have linked above and would like you all to read because this book is awesome.

Alright, I am done. This was fun. 😀

I will see you guys in my next post. Till then I hope you all are having a day and smashing some book goals.

Bye xx

March Wrap Up // Unexpected Reads

March Wrap Up

I had a hard time getting much reading done in March. I am a freelance writer so I had a bit of projects I had to get done with so I was short on time. I read two book. One of them I technically wasn’t supposed to read, ha, but it happened.

1- Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare – (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 4/5

Lady Midnight released on 8th March I guess. Up until then I had made up my mind not to read the series until the last book was out. I hate waiting up for next parts because it kills my feels for the story completely. On 6th March I stumbled upon a video in which Cassie revealed that she has written a short chapter on The Mortal Instruments characters and one of our most favorite couple is getting engaged and it is available in the first edition books only. I went nuts after that. I wanted the book so bad but I was mighty broke and every bookstore priced it so high. It was insane. I finally got my hands on the eBook. Sadly it did not have the bonus chapter but in the last chapters we get to know who gets engaged.

Lady Midnight was all kinds of awesome. The characters, the description, the situation, every single bit of it was such a roller coaster ride. I will do a review very soon. I am just waiting for my physical copy to arrive. I might reread it again before reviewing you never know, ha!

2- Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 3/5

I am still not sure how I feel about this book. I liked reading it but I feel like I didn’t understand it a lot. I was half way through and still had no idea what was really going on. The ending was good but I feel like there was something missing that could have connected the whole story more clearly. If anybody wants to discuss this book with me, please do. 🙂

Yaay! March is done. I just have April and May to get through. Then we will be on track. 😀

Cya later fellaz! 🙂

February Wrap Up // Odd Friendships and Unusual Love

February Wrap Up.jpg

I read two books, DNF a book, one novella, and reread two books in February. It was a great reading month, to be honest.

1- One Day by David Nicholls – (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 5/5

I absolutely loved this book. It was amazing from the beginning to the end. When I started, I didn’t expect it to be so well written but it exceeded all my expectations. This one’s for anyone who’s ever fallen in love with their best friend but just couldn’t grasp the concept of it completely.

2- The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick – (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 2/5

I have mixed feelings for this book. Even though this book was fun to read I just didn’t fall in love with it completely. The romance is more of a friendship between two messed up people which was amazing. It was a quick read so you can include this one in your summer TBR pile.

3- The Last Juror by John Grisham – (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: Did Not Finish (DNF)

I have never met anyone who has ever spoken badly about John Grisham books. In fact people I know are obsessed with his work. I wanted to give his books a go and started with this book but I just couldn’t finish it. The story seemed a bit interesting but the narrative was so boring that I would fall asleep within 10 minutes of starting the book. Any John Grisham book suggestions that can change my opinion about his work? I would love to know! 🙂

4- The Prelude of Ella & Mica (The Secret #0.5) by Jessica Sorensen – (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 2/5

So I have this problem where I read books in numeric order. If there is a 0.1 of a series I would start from there. I won’t just go to book one directly. The sad thing is it took me some time to figure out that not all novellas are that good and can ruin some great books significantly. This novel was alright and quite typical. We have an angry teenage girl with family problems and we have the perfect guy best friend who is putting up with her shit because he is in love with her, etc. I liked Mica.

I don’t usually reread books unless its Twilight saga but I was missing everyone from the TMI world so much due to Shadowhunters TV series. The characters from the show are quite different to the ones in the books so I just had to reread and assure myself that they were indeed themselves.

5- City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare – (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 4/5

I believe rereading a book after a while helps you notice things you did not the first time around. I had fun reading City of Bones but I was also dreading the last parts and you know why that is so.

6- City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare – (Goodreads Synopsis Here)

Rating: 5/5

The second book is my favorite so far in the series. It has so much wit and action, I love it. Plus a bit of Malec is all we need to survive every disaster there ever can be in the shadow world. Though I really wish there was more of it but I don’t mind rereading the next books for it. I love Malec, yes! ❤

I am trying to catch up on all the wrap ups till I reach my current month. The posts will soon be very present oriented. 😀

Until next time!
